Improve Speaking Skills with VR

Provide students with real-life speaking simulations to increase fluency, confidence and communication skills.

3

Strengthen European Cooperation

Facilitate long-term collaboration between schools across Europe through joint activities, shared resources and a digital cooperation platform.

Project Overview

WE ARE IN VR is an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership (2024–2026) that aims to improve foreign language speaking skills of students aged 13–19 through Virtual Reality (VR) technologies. The project introduces innovative digital learning methods, builds the capacity of teachers, and strengthens cross-European collaboration in language education. It responds directly to the partner countries’ need for more interactive, motivating and effective language learning environments. The project is implemented across six European countries through coordinated pilot activities, training programmes and dissemination actions.

Needs Analysis

Partner countries face common challenges in foreign language education:

  • Students have limited opportunities to practice speaking with confidence.
  • Non-touristic regions (e.g., Düzce) lack real exposure to English.
  • Teachers need modern tools, digital pedagogy skills and interactive materials.
  • Traditional classrooms do not provide real-life speaking situations.

VR technology offers a solution by allowing students to practice authentic conversations in safe, immersive environments, reducing anxiety and increasing motivation.

Target Groups

Primary Target Groups

  • Foreign language teachers seeking innovative tools and methodologies
  • Students aged 13–19 participating in VR-based speaking activities

Final Beneficiaries

  • Secondary schools
  • Adults interested in language learning
  • Local education authorities
  • Institutions integrating VR and digital pedagogy
